Community/Outreach Description

The Word of Life is the Sword of the Spirit community in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It is a medium sized community, with several hundred members, lots of young kids, and a growing group of young adults in their 20's. There has been a covenant community in Ann Arbor since the early days of the charismatic renewal, and it continues to be a vibrant center for the Sword of the Spirit.

University Christian Outreach (UCO) is our student outreach, and has a large chapter at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. UCO has a growing staff and lots of great activities and life together.

Ignite—the name for the high school youth program of the Word of Life, serves the youth of the community, seeking to lead tehm into a committed life of discipleship.

Job Description

Each Gapper's assignments will be made based on his or her interests and abilities, as well as our needs. The following is a list of possible responsibilities. Gappers will also participate in community/UCO life, as well as taking part in GAP training with other Gappers from around Michigan on a weekly basis.

Community Office Service
- Serve at various community events
- Various office tasks such as preparing mailings, filing, printing,

UCO Service
- Following up on evangelistic contacts on campus
- Helping with event planning and preparation
- Administrative work

Ignite Youth Group Service
- Help plan and put on youth group events
- Help to lead a small group
- Build relationships with youth
- Administrative work

Person Description

- You are at least 20 years old
- You have a heart for reaching out to people
- You have participated in a Kairos Outreach for at least 2 years
- Experience in youth work or campus evangelism is a plus
- You are open to receiving training and supervision
