FAQ's
How much does GAP cost?
It typically costs a GAP Intern about $10,000 to finance their year. This is broken down into two main components-the program fee and living expenses. The program fee accounts for roughly a third of the total cost, and covers things like retreats, conferences, GAP training and activities that interns participate in during the course of the year. Living expenses denotes things like rent, food, insurance, etc...
How can I finance my GAP year?
It is possible to fundraise for the GAP program fee from friends, family, and others, and any donations received are tax deductible for the donors. And you can fundraise to cover living expenses; however, any donations made to cover living expenses are not tax deducitible for donors. Further guidance and discussion of financial matters and policy will be handled during the application process.
Can I choose where I serve?
On the GAP application there is a place to express a preference for service location, and we will do our best to place applicants in their first choice. Final placements will be based on matching the service location needs with the applicants who are best suited to thrive in that particular environment. In any event, we will not place an Intern in a location which they truly do not want to be in.
Is there a deadline for applying?
Yes, April 1. All application materials are due by this point.
When will I know if I'm accepted?

When does GAP start? End?
The Gap program begins in mid-August with Campus Outreach Academy, Youth Leader Development, and our GAP opening retreat. GAP runs until late May of the following year. Exact arrival and ending dates will be discussed during the application process.
